In the 1950s, developers began to build housing in Milpitas for the workers at
the nearby Ford Motor Plant. The first development was in Sunnyhills along Dixon
Landing Road. The second was to the west of Piedmont Blvd. on sloping pasture land.
This area came to be known as Parktown. It was one of the first areas to incorporate
"Greenways" of connected parks and schools around which were built homes.
